Healing in Nature

If you’ve ever taken time to feel the energy as you’ve walked through the woods, sat in your backyard listening to the sounds of nature, or felt the sun as the water rolls up to cover your feet at the ocean, it is impossible to deny the healing aspect of nature. Nature calms, relaxes and reduces the stress of everyday life. This act alone changes the neurochemical activity within our body. But nature carries a greater potential for healing our minds, bodies and spirit as we connect with their healing energies.

Animals, trees and plants know how to call upon the universal life force that surrounds all living consciousness. It is a constant in nature. In the practice of Reiki, which is the ability to channel this natural energy exponentially, it becomes apparent that wild animals, plants and trees know this energy. As a veterinarian and reiki master, I have had a lot of experience with wildlife rehabilitation. Most wild animals, young and adults, begin to draw this energy the moment you touch them. They trust this energy.

The healing energy of our earth is selfless. The earth, trees, plants, and our pets continuously absorb our negative thoughts and emotions, while generously sharing their energy with humankind. If you have ever laid on a large rock or the ground and allowed yourself to let go of all negativity and ask to be energized, you would know what I mean. You can feel the energy shift and selfless loving connection.

This week, I invite you to take a little time to connect with the healing energy of our earth and nature. Though we may not be in a position to leave our homes with social distancing, we can take time to enjoy the gifts and beauty that surround us. Whether sitting outside listening to the birds, watching the animals in your yard, taking a walk, breathing in the light of a houseplant or looking into the sky, begin to feel your connection with our planet and the oneness of all life. Send your love and gratitude. Feel the loving exchange.

Affirmation:

I Am One with the Healing Energy of our Earth and Nature. I Breathe it into Every Cell within my Body. I Am Grateful.
